{Project Life} Recording even the GROSS stuff

Since I'm so far behind with my Project Life pages, what happened in a particular week isn't fresh in my mind when I start putting my spreads together. Last week I sat down to do the next set of pages (Week 38, Sept. 22 to 28). I started to scroll through my photos to refresh myself and I found the yuckiest photo ever. It's from one of our bathrooms just after Cooper had done his "business." Mike had texted the photo to me with the caption "So glad he's pooping in the toilet." The photo is gross. It really is. But it tells a story of what was going on in our life right at that moment. Cooper wasn't the easiest kid to potty train. It took forever and even after he was wearing underwear and going pee in the toilet, he refused to use the potty for poop. When he needed to go ... he'd take off his underwear, get a pull-up and go to town. At first this bothered me. But since I have to pick my battles, I just let it go. I let go of my attachment to an outcome, knowing at some point he'd be ready.

Then one day -- all on his own -- he used the toilet to go poop. From then on, that's what he did. In the beginning (like Week 38) it was a huge mess. Mike and I would joke that we'd rather change a pull-up then deal with the aftermath of Coop + poop. Now, it's like he's been doing it forever and there's never a mess. I'd already forgotten about his messy poops. How quickly things change (thank goodness).

As gross as it is, I'm glad Mike took the photo. I'm glad he sent me the funny text message. And I'm glad I'm reminded how far we've come in less than two months.

Here are my pages for Week 38 ... I used Just Jaimee's October Storyteller Kit:
