{Family} Weekend Fun

Mike is away on business, so it's been just me and the kids since Saturday. Since this is sort of a special occurrence, we decided to "live it up" this weekend. We had all sorts of adventures, lots of snuggles and some good laughs. Here's a peek at our weekend fun ... Ice Cream Sundae 1 Ice Cream Sundae 2

We spent all day Saturday in our jammies (something we never, ever do) and then capped the day off with an ice cream sundae party. I took the kids to the grocery store (yes, we were in our pajamas) and let them pick out ice cream and a variety of toppings. We had chocolate syrup, whipped cream, sprinkles, nuts and Heath Bar bits. Then we put all the dry toppings in cute little bowls and the kiddos got to build their own sundaes.  So much fun (and yummy too).

Movie Theater Arcade

Photo Booth Fun

Sunday we went to the movies and saw not one, but two movies. Between movies, we hung out in the movie theater arcade, played games and took silly photos in the photo booth. Both kiddos were so great, so well behaved and so excited about our adventure. Cooper loved "Planes," especially when Dusty won the race. Shelby picked "Despicable Me 2," which was pretty funny.

We ended the day with breakfast for dinner thanks to the fine folks at Denny's (Cooper got to pick where we ate). Cooper obviously had a grand time since he fell asleep at 6 p.m. and slept until 7:30 a.m.

Zoo

Monday (there was no school for Veteran's Day and I took most of the week off), we went to the zoo. We love, love the Tucson Zoo. It's just big enough to keep the kids interested, but small enough to make it through in a few hours. Since have a zoo membership, we can pop in for an hour or two and not feel bad about leaving without seeing everything.

I'm so grateful I had the chance to spend the last few days with my kiddos doing fun things. Life can be busy and crazy, so it's a joy to slow down and take some time to enjoy each other.
