{DIY} Whipped Coffee + Sugar Scrub

DIY Beauty| Whipped Coffe + Sugar Scrub | Kimberly Kalil DesignsI really hate to see things go to waste. Each morning I dump a bunch of coffee grounds into the trash and I cringe every, single time. On average, my husband creates a cup of coffee grounds a day. That's a lot of grounds. I decided it was time I found a way to use them rather than tossing them. I looked for a few recipes online. And I picked one I found on Pop Sugar that seemed promising. After mixing all the ingredients together, the mixture was way to wet for my liking. It was like soup. It totally wasn't going to work.

I added a little more white sugar, as well as some brown sugar, but it still wasn't working. As a last ditch effort, I decided to whip the mixture in my standing mixture. Voila. That was the trick. The final product — whipped coffee + sugar scrub — is awesome. It's nice and fluffy, so you can scoop up what you need. And when you scrub it on your body you can feel the coffee and sugars gently exfoliating. My skin soaked up the coconut oil and felt nice and soft after the scrub.

This wasn't at all what I set out to make, but I love the final result.

Ingredients: 1 cup coffee grounds 3/4 cup white sugar 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 cup coconut oil 1 tablespoon of  vitamin E oil

Directions: Mix the first three vitamin together thoroughly. Slowly add the coconut oil to the mix. Let the mixture stand, so it firms up a bit (I put mine in the freezer for 15 minutes to speed up the process). Using a standing mixer, slowly start whipping the mixture while adding  the vitamin E oil.  Increase the mixer's speed and let the mixture whip until it's light and fluffy.

To use: Massage the scrub on wet skin and rinse with warm water.
