{Crafting} Upcycled frame + Amy Tangerine's Plus One

A few weeks back, I was lucky enough to get a big box of Amy Tangerine's Plus One products and was excited to make a home decor project with all the fun, bright goodies. If you haven't seen Amy Tangerine's Plus One paper craft collection yet, make sure you head on over to the Home Shopping Network (HSN), where lots of her adorable designs will be available for sale on March 24.
Let me show you what I made ... I've seen framed advent calendars all over the internet -- simple white frame, with rows of wire strung across it to pin things on -- but then I saw the price tag and knew I wanted to make my own rather than purchase one.
I bought an old (and might I say ugly) painting with a ornate frame at a thrift shop for $5. Actually, I paid a little less than that since I had a 25%-off coupon! When I got the home, I knocked out the painting and gave the frame a coat of bright, white spray paint.
Once the paint was dry, I took some thin craft wiring (similar to this) and using a staple gun, to string three rows of wire across the frame.
Then, I created some fun tags to hang from the wires, using flair, brads and rub ons from the Plus One collection. The collection will be available in five discounted bundles starting at just under $20 -- a steal of a deal if you ask me. The bundles include: a basic kit, an embroidery kit, an embellishment kit and a stamping kit. The sold out Plus One Project Life Mini Kit will also be available at a discounted rate.
Since I had a little bit of everything, I wanted to make sure I played with as much I could. My favorites? The super adorable clothespins that I used to pin my tags and photo to my wire rows. The washi tape. which I used to decorate tags and photos. And all the fun flair (always a favorite of mine).
I loved playing with the embroidery kit. Shelby (my daughter) and I used the stencils in the kit to stitch out initials. And I hand drew some shapes (the heart below) and stitched those as well. There's so many projects (cards, scrapbooking layouts, etc.) you can use this bundle for.
After collecting some of my favorite photos of my family, I clipped the photos and my tags to the frame. I let Shelby help me pick out which photos went where and which tags would look best. I think that it would be fun to swap out the photos and tags depending on the season or when we do new family photos. There are so many fun things we can do with this frame.
Seriously, you need to check out the Plus One collection. It was one of the top selling paper crafting lines released in winter 2014 and features pops of happy colors, brush script and icons of home and family. I adore it.
