Steve Jobs
Stiff
poemcrazy (though I’m not done with this one)
Shadow of the Titanic (not done with this one either)
I’m a little behind on my book-a-week goal, but since Steve Jobs was quite a bit longer, I figure it’s okay.

I never, ever see this many movies in a single month. I've been on a movie watching binge. This is what happens when I spend a lot of time by myself.
Shelby ready for adventure. |
What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
Lots of park time with the kids
Lots of walks with Coop’s new tryke and Shelby’s scooter
A trip with Shelby to Frogs, a French bakery, for macaroons and baguettes.
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
Mike bought me a new pair of running shoes, a pair that are Nike+ enabled and way better looking than the pair I have been using and worn out! I have already put them to good use and managed to log 81.55 miles in January. My goal for February is 100 miles.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
I bought two pairs of size 6 trousers for work. None of my work pants fit, they are all too big. And after less than a month these are big for me too. It feels so rewarding to lose the weight and make regular progress.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
My blood pressure has been an issue for more than a year. We’ve tried a diuretic, diet and exercise, but nothing seems to work. My doctor had to put me on a different medication, which seems to be doing the trick. Also, I have an abnormally swollen lymph node in my groin. My doctor had blood tests done and the good news is I don’t have lymphoma. The bad news is they don’t know why my node is swollen. It went down for a few days and it’s swollen again. According to my doctor, the next step is surgery and removal.
What were my accomplishments this month?
Even traveling three weeks of the month, I stayed on track with my fitness goals and got 81.55 miles in. This is in spite of late hours, staying in hotels, super cold temperatures, and full days of travel. I also managed to lose some weight each and every week. The numbers are getting smaller, but I’m still making progress. I’m just four pounds from my goal.
What were my disappointments this month?
I was away from home way too much on business. I really hate being away so much and for some long.
Cassius’ cancer is back. Three tumors have replaced the one we have removed in December. He’s having trouble keeping food down and is losing weight fast. It’s heartbreaking to watch.
