Week in My Life: Day Two
Another day has come and gone. Long, rough day. But a basically a good day.
Day Two: Tuesday, July 26, 2011
Observations: I took fewer pictures today, mostly because I was swamped at work. A lot of issues. A lot of meetings. But I am really happy with my iPhone photos and love the cool effects I can apply to my photos.
Favorite moment: Shelby telling me about splatter painting ad Jackson Pollock. That kid loves art. Some times I forget she's only seven.
Gratitude: I’m grateful for modern technology and how it allows me to spend special time with my family, even when I’m not there (thank you FaceTime).
Overheard: Told to me by Mike, “Shelby made up a joke on her own that was actually funny. She came out of her room clutching her two stuffed animal frogs. ‘Dad, you know where I bought these frogs?... At the swamp meet.’ “
And here's how my day broke down:
7:52 a.m. Finally get up. Set my alarm for 7:25, but hit snooze three times before decided it as time to get up. Checked email on my phone. Discover a major issue we had Monday had been solved – praise the computer gods and thank goodness for technicians. Took a shower. Flat ironed my hair. Put on makeup.
8:25 a.m. Called home. The kids were still asleep, so no phone time with them. Talked to Mike, then finished getting ready.
8:47 a.m. Interesting segment on the Today Show about women who don’t want to have children.
I almost always read the paper. Even if it's only online ... but I prefer a hard copy. |
Breakfast ... Fruit Loops |
8:50 a.m. Breakfast of Fruit Loops and sausage at the hotel .
9:05 a.m. Shuttle ride to the newspaper and start work. Though today proved to be less stressful than Monday, it was still busy. A lot of meetings (I’m not a fan of meetings) and answering a lot of questions.
12:15 p.m. Lunch? Nope. Another meeting.
1:45 p.m. Finally done with all the morning meetings and headed to lunch with Angela. Chicken-salad sandwich on a bagel, broccoli cheese soup and iced tea. Yum. I always, always eat more when I travel, which is proving to be bad for me. I need to eat less and move more.

2:30 p.m. Back to work. Answered questions. Felt like I was herding cats. But we managed o make forward progress, so that’s all that matters.
8:30 p.m. Called it quits for the day. Went to dinner Django. Blue cheese medallions, wild rice and cream of mushroom soup, chocolate and pistachio gelato. Super tasty and good company.

10 p.m. Angela dropped me off at the hotel post dinner. Called home. Shelby told me all about her day at summer camp. This week the theme is art. She did a splatter painting, learned about Jackson Pollock and “caveman” art (as she calls it).
10:45 p.m. Night report for work. Should have done this before dinner, but I was starving and that won out.
11:15 p.m. Bed for some much needed sleep.
