Day 10: All Wrapped Up
Journaling reads:
One of my least favorite parts of preparing for Christmas is all the gift wrapping that has to be done. Somehow I get stuck with wrapping pretty much every single present in our house -- all of ‘em, even some that are for me! I'm just not one of those people who likes to spend a lot of time fussing over the wrapping and making it look pretty. In fact, it takes all my patience just to wrap all the presents in the house in just a simple basic, fashion. My mother-in-law makes the most beautiful, fancy and time consuming bows that she places on all the presents she wraps. She uses all sorts of lovely wire ribbon. I use those cheap, stick-on bows! My presents always look so pathetic next to hers. But I have to remind myself my kids don’t care what the wrapping paper looks like or how elaborate the bow is. They're excited to see what’s inside the box.
When I adjust my expectations, I think I'm better able to handle the task of wrapping presents. This year, I want to try to use similar style wrapping paper (preferably the brown, craft color papers with muted Christmas colors and patterns) for all our presents. But really, as long as I get them all wrapped and get them wrapped before Christmas Eve, then I’ll be happy.
