It's her birthday

We celebrated Shelby's birthday for a couple of days. Thursday was her school party. Friday was her "real" birthday and we went to the zoo. And today was her "big" party at Chuck E. Cheese. I am not sure if i was nuts thinking I could hang out at Chuck E Cheese two weeks after having a baby ... but it actually wasn't too bad. It was much better than having a party at home and having to do all the setup/clean up ourselves.

Check out Shelby's awesome birthday cake. My sister, who must have inherited some of my mother's cake baking/decorating skills, made this for Strawberry Shortcake cake for Shelby. Months ago Shelby said she wanted a Strawberry Shortcake party and since we knew her birthday would be right around the time Cooper arrived, my sister offered to head up the party planning. So, she did some research and found a cake to make ... and what a cake it was. She also made the yummiest cupcakes with whipped cream frosting and fresh strawberries on top. What a lucky little girl Shelby is to have an Auntie who loves her so much.

After everyone sang Happy Birthday to Shelby, she went to town on her cake. The strawberries on the side were actually cookies, so those were the first to be eaten. And let me tell you, they were YUMMY!

And of course Cooper came to the party ... and slept all the way through the big event. He was passed around throughout the party, and loved being snuggled by Nana, Miss Shanda and Auntie Amy. This little boy is never put down!

Isn't he just the sweetest little boy? Here are some more photos from the party. Shelby was most excited to have Savannah at her party. She loves her cousin and calls her her little buddy.

P.S. Thank you to everyone who sent Shelby presents or money for her birthday. She loved everything she received and we're so grateful for all your generosity. We feel so blessed to know how loved Shelby is by so many people. I am working on real thank you cards, but it's taking me longer than normal with the new baby and no sleep!
