Rocky Point, Mexico

Happy Labor Day. We did very little laboring this weekend. Unless you count packing up the car and heading south to Mexico. We spent a little time in Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco), Mexico, which is on the Sea of Cortex. It's only about a 3 or 3 1/2 hour drive from our house, so it's a quick but somewhat exotic getaway.

Can you believe how big Shelby is getting? She's lost that baby or toddler look ... she's a big girl all the way.

We rented a little house down there VERY close to the beach. It was great. Shelby was really into the who beach thing and was especially interested in collecting sea shells. The rental properties are super affordable, so we're already thinking about when we can go again! Mike and Shelby did a little shopping in town ... Shelby picked out a dress, a necklace and a tank top. Mike was happy to get 5 pounds of fresh shrimp (guess what we're having for dinner tonight?).

We stayed in Las Conchas (a gated community on the water), which is a little bit removed from town. It wasn't as busy where we were at, which was nice. There were other people on the beach, but for the most part, we had a ton of privacy and Shelby could just play her little heart out.

The waves and the water didn't scare Shelby in the least, much to my surprise. We haven't been to the beach in awhile,so I thought it might overwhelm her (another sign she's growing up, nothing slows her down). She got right in and we had trouble getting her to back it up at the end of the day!

Mike had been down here before, but it was a first for me. It's definitely Mexico, a lot different than being in the States. But the beaches are awesome, the price is right and it's crazy close to Tucson. My favorite part of the trip was when we looked at real estate. There are a ton of houses for sale, most of them with beach views. This one was my favorite. I would love to buy a place down there ... anyone interested in going in on a place with us?
