Day One in Austin ...

It feels like real vacation! We made our way to Austin and settled in at the Omni Southpark. It's a pretty nice hotel and we took a dip in the pool. Mike worked out and I took a late (and long) nap.

Getting out of Tucson was a little nuts. Packing up all of us (Cassius included) and getting Shelby to school on time meant for a bit of chaos around the Kalil house. Shelb is super excited about her weekend, as Nana has lots of fun stuff planned ... manicure and pedicure; swimming; a trip to see "Big" Mike's airplane; and dinner with Uncle Kelly.
We didn't head out for dinner until after 9 p.m., which is pretty late for us, and of course we headed to the famed downtown district (6th Street, Congress, etc.). We had an awesome dinner and did a little exploring. Then we headed to La Zona Rosa where Spoon was playing an official ACL After-Party. We didn't have tickets, since they sold-out quickly ... but we thought we'd just peak at the show and try to get in. Well, fate was on our side ... some dude sold us tickets for less than face value and we walked in as Spoon was finishing their first song of the night. Awesome show, though we left our camera at home and sadly got no pics. We made it back to our hotel around 1:30 a.m.! I know, you're shocked! We were too. We never stay up that late anymore. In fact, I don't think I can usually keep my eyes open, even if I wanted to. I was so proud of us, up late and enjoying the town. What a great little vacation so far.
