{Art} 100 Faces

100 Faces I've been taking an online class from Dina Wakely called Facing the Facts. For a long time, I've wanted to learn to draw, but I figured I was a lost cause. I doodle all the time, but I'm more of an abstract artist than anything else. But when I'd sit down to draw a face, I was always super frustrated and dream of a time when I could easily draw.

I've admired Dina's artwork for ages. She's super talented and I love, love her style. When she put her faces class online, I promptly signed up. I've been slowly watching (read: savoring) the class videos and working on creating 100 faces (a challenge Dina gives at the start of the course).

The most amazing part? I could see an improvement with my very first post-lesson face. I totally struggled with proportion, but the formula Dina gives is so easy ... and my faces look less wonky.

The whole process of of drawing and painting is incredibly therapeutic for me. I'm loving the time I spend in my sketch books playing. Though my drawings have a long way to go, I'm thrilled with the progress I'm already making.  I look forward to my evening art time so much  more and have been making it a habit to draw a little each night after the kids go to bed. I set a personal goal to finish 100 faces by the end of 2013. I have 11 done so far, so I need to make sure I stay on track over the next 6-ish weeks. I can't wait to see where I'm at when I hit face No. 100.

What are you creating right now? Are you working on anything special? Please share, I'd love to see your work!
