Curse you Amy Poehler

Last night (Saturday) Amy Poehler of "Saturday Night Live" fame gave birth to her first child, a baby boy. That's great, right? WRONG! She named her child Archie. As in Archie Bunker or Archie from the comic series. This might not matter to many people, but for me it now makes my life a little harder. Why you ask? Because my dear husband is seriously lobbying for Archie as a name for our unborn child. We still don't know if we're having another girl or switching things up with up boy. However, Mike is seriously pushing Archie, Kermit (yep, like the frog) and Roscoe. All the more reason to have another girl. If you think he's kidding, he's not. He's dead serious. And when he heard about Amy Poehler's name choice he felt vindicated. So thanks a lot Amy Poehler, now I'm going to have to hear about this for months.

Everyone cross their fingers we're having a girl. Shelby and I have a lot of GREAT girl names we're passing around. And no child should be tortured with Archie, Kermit or Roscoe.

I think I should start a poll. It could be, "Who thinks my husband is nuts?" Or "What name is worse than Archie or Kermit?" Or we could do, "Save our child, what is an appropriate name my husband might actually like?"

On to better topics ... Shelby has been obsessed with singing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Her preschool is already preparing for its Christmas program, so Rudolph is constantly the song of choice ... .in the car on the way to school, bed time, play time, all the time! Her second favorite Christmas song is Joy to the World, but she can only remember about two lines of it. So she belts out those two lines, over and over and over again.

Shelby also thinks it's funny to salute me. When I tell her to do something she salutes me and says in a stern voice, "Yes Sir!" She told me that's what they do in the army. I would have never known that!

Yesterday, Shelby and I went and got pedicures together. She was perfect. She sat still and chatted away with the girl doing her nails. She told the girl that Obama was going to win. No one was going to vote for McCain, except for Papa. And he was only voting for McCain because they are both named John. She also said George Bush wasn't her friend and gave him a big thumbs down. All the women in the salon got a huge kick out of her political commentary. She also talked baseball a bit, saying her team, the Diamondbacks, can't ever win, but Mommy's team, the Dodgers, win a lot.

And finally, We're gearing up for Halloween ... the count down has begun. Shelby is going to be a baseball player (it was her choice). She has been practicing saying "Trick or treat. Smell my feet. Give me something good to eat." She thinks it's hilarious.

We found her a cute baseball jersey and along with her D-Backs cap and bat, she's pretty much ready to go. I think we're all going to dress up like baseball players ....
