The Anticipation
Shelby is hosting her first sleepover tonight (her first with kids who aren't related to her to be more specific) and she can't contain her excitement. Two of the neighborhood girls are coming to spend the night. We've made friends with the girls and their parents ... and over the last few months have taken turns watching the girls each other so we can all enjoy date night with our spouses.
Shelby and Alexia (she's seven) have been making plans for a sleepover for weeks. And tonight is the big night. The girls, Alexia and her sister Ayana who is four (like Shelby), should be arriving any moment now, which isn't soon enough. Shelby has been perched by our front window for the last half hour just waiting. And waiting.
